Hey there! I'm Masood, one of the co-founders of Amazee Tech Solutions, and I want to share our incredible journey with you. It's a story of three friends who started with nothing but laptops and big dreams, and somehow managed to build something amazing. Grab a cup of coffee – this is going to be a good one!
Starting From Square One (2011-2014)
I'll never forget that August day in 2011 when Shahul shared his vision with me and Relwan in Nagapattinam. We were young, probably a bit naive, but incredibly passionate. We called ourselves Falcon Creative Studio (though we weren't officially registered – talk about starting from scratch!), and our office was basically wherever we could find a decent internet connection to hunt for projects on Digital Point Forums.
Those early days were... interesting, to say the least. We spent countless hours sending cold emails, hoping someone would give us a chance. Then Proaxxs, a hosting company, took a bet on us for web design work. Looking back, we probably had no idea what we were doing, but we were determined to figure it out. I remember us pooling our money together to buy Lynda.com courses – best investment we ever made!
In February 2012, we moved to Karaikal. Business started picking up, and we were getting local projects through our website. But let me tell you about the chaos of managing local clients – my phone would ring at all hours for the smallest things. "The button is slightly off-center!" Ah, those were the days! By 2014, we were like, "Okay, we need to think bigger."
Our WordPress Adventure Begins (2014-2015)
Mid-2014 was when things started getting interesting. We got connected with Bhanu Aluwaliah from MyThemeShop, who kept throwing WordPress theme projects our way. Then came Josu Sanz, who introduced us to ThemeForest – that was a game-changer.
Our first attempt at a ThemeForest theme was this Beauty Care design. Got approved for PSD and HTML categories, spent six months turning it into a WordPress theme... only to get rejected. Ouch! But you know what? That rejection taught us more than any success could have.
Then came Interion, a theme we built for Josu that actually got approved. Followed by Drive, our first approved WordPress theme. I still remember our celebration when we got that approval email – it was like winning the lottery!
Going All In (2015-2016)
We then spent an entire year building Electrify – 30+ landing pages, guys! It was massive. We thought, "If it looks good, it'll sell!" (Spoiler alert: we learned marketing matters just as much). But Electrify did well, and suddenly we were thinking, "Hey, we might actually be good at this!"
The Game-Changing Composer (2016)
2016 was intense. We poured everything into developing Composer, a WordPress theme that took six months to build. I'm talking late nights, endless debugging sessions, and way too much coffee. Money was tight – try explaining to your family that you're working for free for six months because you believe in a project! We ended up selling 50% ownership to Josu Sanz, and man, did that pay off! Composer became huge on his ThemeForest account, Innwithemes. That success fueled us to create more themes – an Event Management theme, Swiper Portfolio theme, you name it.
The WP Configurator Pro Journey (2017-2021)
Here's where it gets really interesting. Josu came to us with this client who needed a product configurator for WooCommerce. We built it, and then Josu said, "Hey, why don't we sell this as a plugin?" That's how Product Configurator for WooCommerce was born. By 2019, we rebranded it as WP Configurator Pro and formed a proper partnership. Watching it grow from $1.5K to $5K monthly by mid-2022 was incredible. We even created a specialized theme called Configurator – talk about finding our niche!
2021 was a year of complete reinvention. We rebuilt WP Configurator Pro from scratch using Vue.js. None of us had serious experience with SaaS products or subscription models, but we jumped in anyway. Looking back, those challenges taught us everything we know about full-stack development.
The New Chapter (2023-Present)
Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs. By mid-2023, we decided to sell our 50% of WP Configurator Pro to Josu for $60K and start fresh as Amazee Tech Solutions LLP. Today, we're doing all sorts of cool stuff:
- Creating slick UI/UX designs
- Building WordPress themes and plugins
- Developing Shopify themes and apps
- Running our product configurator services through Loomix.co
- Selling WordPress plugins with yearly subscriptions
Looking Back, Moving Forward You know what's crazy? Sometimes I sit in our office and think about those early days in Nagapattinam, when we were just three friends with big dreams. Every rejection, every all-nighter, every small win – it all led us here.
To everyone who's been part of this journey – our clients, partners, and especially Shahul and Relwan – thank you. We've built something pretty special together. And hey, if you're just starting your entrepreneurial journey, remember this: everyone starts somewhere. We started with cold emails and forum posts, and look where we are now. Keep pushing, keep learning, and most importantly, keep believing in what you're building.
What's next for Amazee? Well, we're just getting started. The tech world never stands still, and neither do we. But that's a story for another blog post!
